Today there are 22 programs in 42 communities who strive for global justice through offering mobility. Our local annual wheelchair drive event held the first Saturday in June is our blitz to collect as many wheelchairs as possible and/or make productive contacts for wheelchairs to be picked up during the year by one of our dedicated volunteers; to increase awareness and an opportunity for individuals to publicly donate wheelchairs to be refurbished by Hope Haven volunteers and sent internationally to give others a chance of mobility, independence and greater self-worth. The Annual Wheels to Freedom event - free car wash, free food, games for kids and entertainment - is tentatively scheduled for June 12, 2010 at the corner of Langsford Road and 291 Highway in Lee's Summit, MO. More than 60 wheelchairs and walkers were donated during the 2009 event. However, many more wheel chairs are donated during the year resulting in a total of 350 - 400 wheelchairs collected each year. Contact us at any time during the year to donate a wheelchair. See the "How to Donate" page to learn how you can donate wheelchairs anytime during the year.
